#whatIlearned as a Hospitality & Event Mgmt Intern

Updated: Jan 13, 2023

Intern holding #what i learned sign

I have over 13 years experience in the restaurant/hospitality industry and I've always felt I was destined for much more. When I found out that I was pregnant 3 years ago, my life changed forever. I wanted to do more with my life not only for myself, but for my future daughter. I decided to go back to school and pursue my degree in Hospitality/Tourism Management where the course led me to find an internship position. I found Isabella Johnston with Pivot Business Consulting through Valencia’s Navigator website. Over the duration of my internship, I've gained so much more knowledge and experience than I would from a book or classroom. While working with Isabella, I can now say that I'm experienced in posting attention-grabbing social media content, creating live events via Eventbrite, administrative work, and how to have more patience along with having a more professional outlook on what the hospitality/event industry is all about. I didn’t expect myself to ever go to college or even have this incredible opportunity to work with such amazing and talented individuals like Isabella (along with the many others I have met along the way). I'm a semester away from graduating along with a job position offered at StarterStudio. Without my internship, I wouldn’t be in this life-changing career path and I couldn’t thank Isabella from Pivot Business Consulting/Intern Pursuit for this opportunity. I highly recommend taking the time to learn everything you can from this experience because you’d be surprised at how much you can gain.
